Bharti Airtel has got regulatory nod, to acquire Millicom International Cellular’s Rwanda unit, Tigo Rwanda.

The company has received approval from the Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority (RURA), for acquiring Millicom’s Rwanda subsidiary.

Last month, Bharti Airtel has signed a definitive agreement with Millicom International, under which Airtel Rwanda will acquire 100% equity interest in Tigo Rwanda, and in return consolidate the Rwanda mobile market by putting Airtel as a strong No 2 carrier by revenue in the African country.

Further the company stated, “The merger will result in the only negative Ebitda OpCo joining 13 positive Ebitda OpCos in Africa,” which means going forward, all 14 Airtel units in Africa will become Ebitda positive.
