Babri Verdict, LK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi and Others to Present on 30 Sep

On 30 September, the judgment will be delivered on the 28-year-old case which involves the demolition of the Babri Masjid. This event has changed the political landscape and social fabric of the nation. Among the list of 32 accused asked to be present in the court involving BJP veterans LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi, Union Minister Uma Bharati and Former Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh.

Mr Advani, Mr Joshi and Ms Bharati are the key leaders of BJP at that time and are accused of a conspiracy that had led to the demolition of the 15th Century mosque in December 1992.

LK Advani had recorded his statement in the case before the Special CBI Court through video conferencing on 24 July. Murli Manohar Joshi had recorded his statement a day before the statement of Mr Advani, both of them had denied all the charges.

In April 2017, the top court had asked the special court for conducting day-to-day hearings and to complete the trials within two years. Then, it was given several extensions afterwards, and when the special judge asked for more time, the court extended the deadline to 30 September.
