Covid-19: ITC Sets Up Rs 150 Crore Contingency Fund

ITC Limited has announced the setting up of Rs 150 crore contingency fund to address the crisis emerging from the COVID-19 outbreak in the country. The fund will be utilized primarily relief to vulnerable and most needy in the society.
The company will also collaborate with local district authorities to provide assistance to the district and rural healthcare ecosystem. ITC will also provide protective gear and hygiene products for workers involved in movement of essential goods.
‘ITC has geared its value-chain to lend support to the Government in its efforts to fight this threat to the people of India. Over the past few weeks several initiatives have been implemented in response to the crisis. We are now happy to announce that ITC is setting up a Contingency Fund of Rs 150 crore to address and manage the challenges arising out of this adversity.’
The maker of Aashirvaad atta and Savlon soaps also said working with state authorities and local administration to ensure that manufacturing and distribution activities of essential foods and hygiene products continue uninterrupted with bare minimum workforce. Total number of cases in India climbed to 724 as of early Friday, with more than 70 cases from various parts of the country on Thursday. Of these, 677 are Indians and 47 are foreign nationals.
