Ericsson India Pvt Ltd. has filed contempt of court plea against Reliance Communications Ltd (RCom) for the second as RCom failed to clear the dues worth Rs 550 crores, as directed by the Supreme Court.

Ericsson is seeking detention in civil prison against Anil Ambani and two others in the matter, apart from contempt plea. Ericsson argued that until the dues are cleared, they should be detained in civil prison.

The plea states, “The contemnor named above having committed and guilty of contempt of court be directed to be detained in civil prison unless the aforesaid contemnors purge themselves by making payment of Rs 550 crores along with interest thereon in terms of the order dated Oct. 23, 2018.”

The plea submitted to the apex court also states, “It is respectfully being brought to the notice of this court that respondents have not paid payment of Rs 550 crore as ordered and as undertaken by Dec. 15, 2018 or even thereafter.” “Clearly, the respondents have committed a gross contempt of this court deserve to be punished for the same,” the plea added.
