HCL Technologies Aims To Create 5,000 Jobs In Andhra Pradesh

Indian tech major, HCL Technologies said that it will set up a Global IT development centre which will help create more than 5,000 jobs at Gannavaram (near Vijayawada), Andhra Pradesh. The state government and HCL Technologies had signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the previous year to develop this project.

Spread in an area of across 29.86 acres, the new centre is envisioned as part of Andhra Pradesh’s vision to established a new IT hub. As per the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), HCL will invest over Rs 700 crore to develop two facilities in the state, one in Vijayawada and other in Amravati, in phases over the next few years.

According to Nara Lokesh, Minister for Information Technology and Communications, Andhra Pradesh government, said the state will aim to support all the requirements needed by HCL in order to quickly set up their campus and grow it into one of their largest delivery centres across the globe.

Executive Director and CEO of HCL Corporation Roshni Nadar Malhotra said, “The creation of this Global Centre is aligned with our strategic vision to expand and create opportunities in the emerging cities. We are confident that the HCL Global Centre in Vijayawada will be one of the best IT centres in the industry in the coming years.”

The company said in the statement that they are planning to attract talent who belong to Vijayawada and provide them with careers in areas of application and product development, including new technologies on demand, through their ‘come back home’ campaign. The company will also invest in creating a training centre for fresh engineering graduates from local colleges.
