Peace on Borders is Basis for Growth of China-India Relationship: S Jaishankar

On Tuesday, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that there was “cause for concern” but the efforts were being made on to work out for solutions.
S Jaishankar in an interactive session organised by think-tank Gateway House said the basis for the overall growth of China-India relationship was peace and tranquility along the borders. He said, “Now, if that gets disturbed, then it cannot be that if the foundation of the house gets eroded or fractured and the rest of the superstructure remains unaltered.”
The external affairs minister thinks that the country is going through a period of tough relationship with the China.”My hope is that people at that end of the relationship understand the seriousness of what has happened,” he added.
He also referred to a numbers of agreements that both the countries have signed for ensuring peace and tranquility along the borders. Jaisankar said that the rise of China is natural and was parts of global rebalance. It is the responsibility of the rising nation to consider how the world reacts to it and is not just enough to rise.
