Softbank’s Investment Boosted Unacademy’s Valuation to $1.45 Billion

India’s online teaching platform, Unacademy’s valuation reached $1.45 billion, after the investment of its existing investor, Softbank Group Corp.

Bangalore-based online teaching platform, Unacademy focuses on test and exam preparation classes by recruiting experienced teachers who help students towards their ambition of qualifying different exams and courses from civil service, banking exams to programming languages. Currently, it has 350,000 paying subscribers and 30 million registered users in almost four months time period from February and its valuation tripled, which was $510 million in February.

Unacademy has changed the way of India’s traditional coaching centres as more than a crowd of hundred students often pay thousands of dollars to learn from celebrity teachers, with no personal interaction and Unacademy charges between $20 to $150 a month and offers access to every student who has a smartphone and wanted to learn.

He added that anyone who wants to learn from professional and experienced teachers could access Unacademy app through their phones and connect with them through online lectures.
