The CEO Of The Bhilai Steel Plant Sacked

The Bhilai Steel Plant’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) M Ravi was removed along with suspension two other senior officials on Wednesday (10/10/2018), following an event which caused the lives of 11 employees due to the blast at the Steel plant.

The Union Steel Minister Chaudhary Birender Singh told reporters that CEO M Ravi has been removed with immediate effect, while General Manager (safety department) T Pandya Raja and Deputy General Manager (energy department) Naveen Kumar have been suspended.

The steel ministry released a statement, “The minister announced compensation of Rs 30 lakh each to the families of those who lost their lives in the accident, Rs 15 lakh each for those who have serious injuries and Rs 2 lakh each for those with minor injuries.”

Ministry of Steel claimed in a statement that they have contacted the Ministry of Health and four burns specialist doctors from AIIMS Delhi have been sent to Bhilai for treatment of the injured.

The statement also read, “Out of the injured, three are serious and in a critical condition. One person is on watch and the others are being given treatment for various stages of burn injuries.”

The Minister also said in a tweet, “Reached Bhilai to take stock of the situation after the coke oven blast yesterday. We are ensuring that we extend all possible help to the families who lost their member yesterday and provide the best treatment to the injured.”

According to the reports two, out of the 14 injured reportedly died during the treatment making the death toll to 11. The probe into the causes of the blast that took place is still underway.
