Trade War: Trumps Asks China To Remove Tariffs On US Agri Products

US President Donald Trump has asked China to remove all tariffs on U.S. agriculture including beef and pork, in immediate effect, citing progress made in trade talks between the two countries.
In a couple of tweets, Donald Trump said, “I have asked China to immediately remove all Tariffs on our agricultural products (including beef, pork, etc.) based on the fact that we are moving along nicely with Trade discussions and I did not increase their second tranche of Tariffs to 25% on March 1st. This is very important for our great farmers – and me!”
Trump specifically noted that the US was going to increase tariffs on Chinese goods from 10 per cent to 25 per cent from March 1, which he refrained. In the previous year, due to the trade war, China imposed retaliatory tariffs on American agricultural products which included products such as soybeans, beef, pork and chicken products.
It is reported that the American and Chinese officials are working on a trade deal, which could be signed within a few weeks. Trump while speaking to reporters after the summit with North Korea in Hanoi said, “Speaking of China we’re very well on our way to doing something special. But we’ll see.”
However, he also added, “I am always prepared to walk. I’m never afraid to walk from a deal, and I would do that with China, too, if it didn’t work out.”
