United Breweries Profit Rises By 37% to Rs. 222 Crores

United Breweries Limited, one the largest player in the spirit industry posted their quarterly results for the June-end quarter of the current fiscal year with a net profit of Rs. 222 crores, a jump of 37%, as the company posted a net profit of Rs. 161.89 crores in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

The total revenue the company generated during the June-end quarter of FY19 stood at Rs. 4173.18 crores, a net increase of 9.24% as compared to the Rs.3820.18 crores in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year.

Net standalone sales went up to Rs. 1865 crores, an increase of 11.1% as compared to Rs. 1678 crores. EBITDA stood at Rs. 400 crores, posting a 25.7% rise in comparison to Rs. 318 crores amounted during the June-end quarter of the previous fiscal.

The company said in a statement, “UBL started the year strongly, recording double-digit volume and net revenue growth. The industry recorded volume growth in almost all key states.” It further said, “In Kerala and Maharashtra (excluding Mumbai) the market reversed the highway ban induced negative trend of the previous quarters. Following the new excise policy in Uttar Pradesh, effective April 1, 2018, a large number of new wholesale licenses were granted, boosting industry growth.”
