INDIA: The Centre's direct tax collections in May 2009 registered an increase of 16.88% to Rs 11,919 crore as against Rs 10,198 crore a year ago from partial recovery,.
However, direct tax receipts in April declined by 3.19% to Rs 12,239 crore as compared to Rs 12,642 crore a year ago, mainly on account of the high refunds processed in the first month of the fiscal.
