India Administers 142.38 Crore Covid-19 Vaccine Doses, Says Health Ministry

The number of Covid-19 vaccine doses given in the country reached the mark of 142.38 crores, the Union Health Ministry said. Over 65 lakh vaccine shots were given to citizens of India till 7 pm on Monday, it added. The daily vaccination count increases with the collection of the final reports for the day by late at night. The vaccination drive was started on January 16, with Healthcare Workers (HCWs) getting vaccinated in the first phase.

The vaccination of Frontline Workers (FLWs) began on February 2. The next phase was initiated from March 1 for people over 60 years of age and those aged 45 and above with specified health conditions. The government had then expanded it by vaccinating everyone above 18 from May 1.
