At least 42 people died after heavy rains in Uttarakhand, which led to many houses and landslides in the Kumaon region. CM Pushkar Singh Dhami took a look at rain-hit areas and interacted with people on the ground to get knowledge of the damage. He declared a relief of Rs 4 lakh each for those who died in rain-related events in the state over the last two days.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also talked to CM Dhami to know the situation and pledged him all help. The Chief Minister requested Chardham travellers stay where they are and not start their journey before the weather is better.

Landslides blocked national and state highways in Nainital, and the town lost all connectivity from the state for the second continuous day. 3 Indian Air Force (IAF) helicopters have been sent to help in relief and rescue operations. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) told that it had saved more than 300 people from rain-affected areas in Uttarakhand.
