Thailand is reopening to foreign tourists, ending its mandatory quarantine for fully vaccinated travellers from November 1, officials announced on Friday. The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration also declared a release of restrictions, lifting the curfew in a few areas where risks have decreased.

Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-Ocha declared that Thailand no longer requires tourists to quarantine if they are fully vaccinated for Covid-19. Under the new rules, vaccinated passengers to Thailand from the allowed countries will need to show negative results from RT-PCR tests before flying and on their arrival. Tourists will need to spend a night in a government-approved hotel waiting for their test results. If the effects are adverse, the person can go anywhere in Thailand.

PM Prayuth published the list of countries with decreased quarantine rules on his Facebook page, which said, “To wait until everything is available might be too late. Travellers can visit other countries instead. Thailand closed its borders to most countries in April last year after transmission of the coronavirus began to soar. But now, Tourists from other countries can enter Thailand but face extra restrictions. The new rules will come into effect from November 1, which will end a late-night curfew in some areas.”
