India’s Omicron cases increased to 126 on Saturday after Karnataka reported six new cases and Kerala reported 4 points, while three more persons in Maharashtra tested positive for the variant. According to officials, omicron cases have been reported in 11 states. Union territories, which is Maharashtra has 43 cases, Delhi has 22 cases, Rajasthan has 17 cases, Karnataka 14 cases, Telangana 8 cases, Gujarat 7 cases, Kerala 11 cases, and Andhra Pradesh, Chandigarh, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal have one case each.

The government has advised people to avoid non-essential travel and mass gatherings and keep New Year celebrations low. India’s first two cases of the Omicron variant were reported in Karnataka on December 2. And this heavily mutated coronavirus was first registered in South Africa on November 24. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has assured people that Delhi is ready to tackle the Omicron and urged people not to panic. Other states also said that they are preparing to deal with Omicron cases.
