Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit poll-bound Goa today where he will address three public meetings and launch an umbrella campaign. “Union Home Minister Amit Shah will come to South Goa today and after a public meeting at Sun Grace Garden, Ponda and Sharda Mandir Multipurpose Hall, which will be broadcasted digitally, we will launch an umbrella campaign in Vasco,” Sadanand Shet Tanavade, Chief of Goa BJP said.

Assembly polls will start in Goa from 14th February and the counting of votes will start on 10th March. In March 2017, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had won 13 seats and Congress won 17 seats in the 40-member assembly. The BJP formed an alliance with Goa Forward Party (GFP), Maharastrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) and other two individuals after which they had claimed a majority with 21 seats in the 40-member house.
