Australia to Fund $50 Million Worth Lethal Weapons For Ukraine

Australia has committed A$70 million ($50 million) to fund lethal weapons for Ukraine, including missiles and ammunition, Prime Minister Scott Morrison said. Australia had changed from its stance of last week when it said it would only fund military-technical aid. “We are talking missiles, we are talking ammunition, we are talking supporting them in their defence of their country, and we will be doing that in association with NATO,” he said.

PM Morrison also requested Australian citizens not to travel to join Ukraine’s military to fight against the Russian army, saying the legal position of foreign civilian soldiers was unclear. Australia will also commit A$35 million in humanitarian support to international organisations assisting Ukrainians with shelter, food, medical care, water and education, he added.
