No One Can Be Forced to Vaccinate: Supreme Court

No one can be forced to vaccinate against COVID-19 because “bodily integrity is part of the fundamental right to life under Article 21 of the Constitution,” the Supreme Court said in a hearing on Monday’s government’s current policy.

The Supreme Court also directed the centre to publish staff and physician reports of adverse vaccine events on a publicly accessible system without prejudice to reporting personal data. It also required all authorities and educational institutions, including private institutions, to “review all vaccine regulations if they have not been recalled”.

The court found the government’s current vaccine policy “unreasonable” given the severity of the disease, reduced oxygen levels, mortality rates and expert opinion.
