The Taliban government will sign an agreement with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to share responsibility for operating airports in Afghanistan, the Taliban’s acting deputy prime minister said on Tuesday.

The Taliban leader, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, announced this on Twitter after months of talks between the group and the UAE, Turkey and Qatar to solve this problem in the Airport Security Cooperation Agreement.

Qatar and Turkey have sent temporary technical teams to assist with airport operations and security after the Taliban took over the country last year as foreign troops withdrew.
