On Thursday, the government has said that it will auction eight coal blocks with 1,143 million tonnes of reserves to steel and cement companies.

The coal secretary Anil Swarup said that the bidding for the blocks will be starting on Friday and the last date for submission of bids will be December 31.

He further said that the auction will be held between January 18 and 22 next year.
