The GIFT Nifty futures were trading in the red before the market’s opening on Tuesday. Indices are expected to open on a similar flat-to-negative note.

Domestic benchmark indices, NSE Nifty 50 and S&P BSE Sensex kicked off the New Year with a flat close on the first trading session. Nifty ended higher by 10.50 points or 0.05% to 21,741.90, while Sensex rose 0.04% or 31.68 points to 72,271.94.

Here are some stocks that are likely to remain in focus on January 2.

Nestle India: The FMCG behemoth has received an order for demand of tax amounting to Rs 46.4 crore under the CGST/SGST Act, applicable interest, and penalty amounting to Rs 4.65 crore. Nestle also announced that it plans to challenge the order.

Life Insurance Corporation (LIC): The insurance giant has received a demand order cum penalty notice of Rs 806.3 crore from Maharashtra tax authorities for the fiscal year 2017-18. LIC plans to appeal before the Commissioner of Appeals, Mumbai.

GR Infraprojects: The construction company received a Letter of Intent (LoI) from REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited for establishing a 1,000 MW transmission system in Madhya Pradesh, with annual transmission charges of Rs 41.97 crore.

Eicher Motors, Tata Motors, TVS Motor Company: Auto and motor companies are expected to be in focus as they announced their December 2023 sales numbers. Eicher Motors logged a 7% YoY decrease in December motorcycle sales at 63,387 units. On the other hand, Tata Motors clocked its highest-ever passenger vehicle (PV) volume in a calendar year. Sales at TVS Motor have increased 25% to 3,01,898.

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL): The PSU power generation company has clarified that while it has submitted a price bid for the order, it has not yet secured the Rs 19,400 crore order from NLC India Ltd.
