Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be awarded Dominica’s highest honour, the Dominica Award of Honour, at the India-Caricom Summit in Guyana.

He will receive the Dominica Award of Honour for contributing to Dominica during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This award will be presented by Sylvanie Burton, President of Dominica, during the India-CARICOM Summit in Georgetown, Guyana, from 19th to 21st November 2024.

The official statement highlighted PM Modi’s efforts to strengthen the relationship between India and Dominica, alongside his support during the pandemic.

In February 2021, PM Modi provided Dominica 70,000 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, helping the country support its Caribbean neighbours.

The award also acknowledges India’s contributions to healthcare, education, and information technology under PM Modi’s leadership and efforts in promoting climate resilience and sustainable development globally.

Sylvanie Burton, President of Dominica, expressed gratitude for PM Modi’s support, calling him a true partner, especially during the global health crisis.

President Burton and Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit will attend the India-CARICOM Summit, where the award will be presented, to discuss shared priorities and cooperation between India and CARICOM states.
