OpenAI’s weekly active users surpassed 400 million in February, up from 300 million in December, reflecting the growing adoption of AI tools. Its paying business users also crossed 2 million, doubling since September.

Meanwhile, China’s DeepSeek has introduced an AI model claiming to rival Western competitors at a lower cost, raising concerns about US dominance in generative AI. 

However, DeepSeek has faced service outages due to high demand, and questions have emerged over its access to Nvidia’s H800 chips, which are restricted for export to China.

OpenAI also reported a sharp rise in developer traffic, with its reasoning models seeing a twofold increase over six months, while its o3 model surged fivefold since launching in late January.
