From 1st July, users must link their Aadhaar to their IRCTC account to book Tatkal tickets on the website or app. Starting 15th July, every Tatkal booking will require OTP verification via the mobile number linked to Aadhaar.

Tatkal tickets at railway counters or through authorised agents will also need Aadhaar-based OTP authentication.

The move aims to prevent misuse and ensure only genuine passengers benefit from the last-minute booking scheme. Ticketing agents will be restricted from booking Tatkal tickets during the first 30 minutes of the window each day.

Agents can’t book AC Tatkal tickets from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM and non-AC ones from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM on the opening day.
