Minda Corporation Ltd, an automobile components manufacturer, announced on Wednesday, 23 July, that it has partnered with US-based Qualcomm Technologies to develop cockpit solutions for the Indian automotive market.
Minda will collaborate with Qualcomm to create a next-generation cockpit platform that will improve in-car cabin experiences in terms of displays, acoustics, computation, and networking, according to a stock exchange filing.
Minda’s new cockpit domain controllers will allow rich multimedia experiences, AI-driven interfaces, and seamless cloud integration, according to the company.
Software-defined vehicles (SDVs) enable manufacturers to implement dynamic changes via software coding, such as over-the-air upgrades in electric vehicles.
Previously, automakers and automotive solutions providers in India, including Tata Technologies and Hyundai, collaborated with technology companies to foster innovation in SDVs.
Tata Technologies formed a strategic agreement in January with Telechips, a developer of full automotive semiconductor solutions. Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor Group has collaborated with the US-based technology giant Nvidia to create sophisticated AI-powered solutions for smart transportation and manufacturing.
Separately, in June, Minda entered into a joint venture agreement with Toyodenso to manufacture and distribute innovative automobile switches in India.
