Defence Minister Rajnath Singh told Parliament that Operation Sindoor was not stopped under any pressure. He rejected US President Donald Trump’s repeated claims that his threats forced India and Pakistan to halt hostilities. Singh stated that the operation concluded only because India’s political and military objectives had been fully achieved.

Operation Sindoor was India’s response to the Pahalgam attack. In this operation, nine terror camps deep inside Pakistan were destroyed on 7th May within 22 minutes. The next day, Pakistan retaliated with drone strikes, prompting India to target 11 key military sites, including the Nur Khan airbase. The damage forced Pakistan to request a ceasefire. India accepted the request with a warning that the pause could be lifted if provoked again.

As Singh spoke in Parliament, security forces killed the mastermind of the Pahalgam attack in Srinagar under Operation Mahadev. He added that Pakistan had “admitted defeat” after Indian airstrikes.

Singh assured that no major Indian assets were damaged and no soldiers were harmed during the conflict. However, he avoided a direct answer on whether any fighter jets were lost. He also criticised the opposition for questioning India’s losses instead of focusing on its successful strikes against terrorist bases.

The opposition had targeted the government after CDS General Anil Chauhan revealed last month that India suffered some initial setbacks during the operation.
