Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday inaugurated Kartavya Bhavan-3, the first building of the Common Central Secretariat (CCS) at Kartavya Path in New Delhi. This launch marks a key milestone in the Central Vista redevelopment project. The project aims to unify 51 Central Government Ministries under one roof for greater efficiency and collaboration.
The six-story building will house important ministries, including Home Affairs, External Affairs, Rural Development, MSME, DoPT, Petroleum & Natural Gas, and the Principal Scientific Adviser. Meanwhile, the remaining nine CCS buildings are expected to be completed within two years.
Equipped with eco-friendly features, such as double-glazed windows, smart LED lighting, energy-saving lifts, and an adaptive AC system, the building also offers 24 large conference rooms, 26 mini conference rooms, and 67 meeting rooms. It also includes 27 elevators and parking for 650 vehicles with 120 EV charging points.
In the meantime, offices from existing bhawans will temporarily shift to facilities at Kasturba Gandhi Marg, Minto Road, and Netaji Palace.
