India has invited Russian companies to invest in innovative space ventures and explore opportunities in its rapidly growing space market, Ambassador Vinay Kumar said on Tuesday (26th August).
Speaking at the Indian Embassyโs National Space Day event, which marks Chandrayaan-3โs Pragyan Rover landing on 23rd August, 2023, Kumar highlighted Indiaโs lucrative schemes to boost the space industry.
He recalled decades of India-Russia space ties, from the launch of Aryabhata in 1975 and Rakesh Sharmaโs Soyuz mission in 1984 to ongoing cooperation in the Gaganyaan human spaceflight program. Officials from Russiaโs Roscosmos, working closely with ISRO, also attended the event.
Kumar noted that space has long been part of Indian tradition, citing Aryabhataโs early studies of celestial movements. He added that today, space plays a key role in daily life through communication and navigation.
The event also featured space-themed performances by students of the Embassy-run Kendriya Vidyalaya and members of the Jawaharlal Nehru Cultural Centre.
