On 4th September, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the growing partnership between India and Singapore and thanked the country for its support after the Pahalgam terror attack in April. He said the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has strengthened, with progress in trade and defence ties over the past year.

Singapore Prime Minister and Finance Minister Lawrence Wong visited India from 2nd to 4th September on his first official trip since taking office in May 2024. Both sides agreed on a roadmap to deepen cooperation in areas like advanced manufacturing, green shipping, skilling, civil nuclear, water management, artificial intelligence (AI), and digital technologies.

The leaders also virtually inaugurated a container terminal in Maharashtra, backed by over $1 billion investment from Singapore’s PSA International. Singapore remains India’s largest trade partner in Southeast Asia and its biggest FDI source for the seventh straight year, with inflows of about $15 billion in 2024-25.

PM Modi reaffirmed shared concerns on terrorism and said countries must unite against it.
