Karnataka has cemented its position as Indiaโs top technology hub. It leads the nation in artificial intelligence, global capability centres (GCCs), and IT exports worth Rs 4.1 lakh crore, according to IT and BT Minister Priyank Kharge.
The state contributes 40% of Indiaโs AI talent, 47% of all GCCs, and 40% of total IT exports. Kharge said Karnatakaโs closest competitor, Telangana, stands at Rs 2.1 lakh crore in IT exports. Telangana is decades behind in catching up.
Highlighting the stateโs strong innovation ecosystem, Kharge noted that Karnataka ranks eighth globally in startups. It continues to lead in research, development, and academic excellence.
To further boost deep tech and artificial intelligence, the government will launch a โDeep Tech Decadeโ on 18th November. An initial investment of Rs 600 crore is planned. The initiative, supported by over 40 global partners, will focus on centres of excellence, incubators, and skill development. It also aims to expand the startup ecosystem beyond Bengaluru.
Kharge said the rise of AI and automation will reshape industries. However, with the right reskilling and upskilling, disruption can be turned into opportunity. While 92 million jobs may disappear globally, he added, 172 million new ones are expected to emerge. Karnataka aims to stay ahead of that curve.
He also emphasised that the growing number of GCCs in India is fostering local innovation and intellectual property creation. This is making the country more self-reliant in technology.
Wrapping up his message to investors, Kharge said, โWeather wise or otherwise, Karnataka is the best place to invest.โ
