Biharβs new government has kicked off its tenure with an ambitious promise: creating one crore jobs for young people over the next five years. In its very first Cabinet meeting on 25th November, the state signalled a major push toward economic transformation, innovation, and industrial revival.
Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit said the plan centres on building a future-ready Bihar with large-scale employment and rapid industrial growth. The government is looking to position the state as a βtech hubβ of eastern India. This involves developing a defence corridor, semiconductor manufacturing park, global capacity centres, a mega tech city, and even a dedicated fitness city. The aim is to make Bihar a major back-end hub and an international workplace over the next half-decade.
To deliver on these goals, multiple committees have already been set up. One will design start-up-focused, employment-oriented initiatives to create opportunities for young entrepreneurs. Another key move is the launch of an Artificial Intelligence Mission to establish Bihar as a leading state in AI adoption and innovation.
Urban development also features prominently in the governmentβs plan. Eleven cities β including all nine divisional headquarters, along with Sonepur and Sitamarhi β will get new greenfield township projects.
In a nod to reviving traditional industries, the government announced that nine defunct sugar mills will be restarted. Additionally, 25 new mills will be established, signalling fresh investment and jobs in the sector.
With these initiatives, Bihar is betting big on technology, manufacturing, entrepreneurship, and industrial revival. The state aims to reshape its economy and deliver large-scale employment for the youth.
