Shares of Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd are trading flat after touching a day’s high of Rs 262.65 on 16th December. This is despite the company saying on Monday (15th December) that it has been declared the successful bidder under the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) process. It will establish an inter-state transmission system for the project titled “Inter-Regional Strengthening between SR Grid and ER Grid.”

The project will be developed on a build, own, operate and transfer (BOOT) basis. POWERGRID said it received the letter of intent for the project on 15th December, 2025.

The project scope includes the construction of 765 kV double-circuit transmission lines passing through Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. It also includes associated line bays and reactor works at both ends.

Earlier in November, Power Grid Corporation of India said its board committee approved raising to Rs 3,800 crore. This will be through a private placement of unsecured taxable bonds.

The POWERGRID Bonds – LXXXIII (83rd Issue) 2025–26 will have a base issue size of Rs 1,000 crore. It will include a green-shoe option of Rs 2,800 crore.

The bonds will be listed on the BSE and NSE. They will be redeemed at par in 10 equal annual instalments, with interest paid annually.

The coupon rate will be decided through bidding on the Electronic Book Provider (EBP) platform. The bonds will be unsecured with no special rights or privileges.

At 10:11 AM, shares of Power Grid were trading 0.17% lower at Rs 261.75 on NSE.
