Shares of Astra Microwave Products Ltd ended 1.65% lower on 9th January, despite the company stating that Astra Rafael Comsys Private Limited, a joint venture between Astra Microwave Products and Israel-based Rafael Advanced Defense Systems Ltd, has secured an order worth Rs 275.27 crore, including taxes, from the Indian Air Force for the integration and installation of software in aircraft.
The order involves integrating software-defined radio (SDR) on MiG-29 aircraft. It also includes installing network-centric applications on MiG-29s and supplying 24 SDRs for the LCA Mk-1A. The contract, awarded by a domestic defence entity, is expected to be completed within 12 months.
Astra Microwave Products said the order is not a related party transaction. Moreover, its promoters or promoter group have no interest in the Indian Air Force. The company will receive part of the order through its joint venture.
The deal is seen as a positive development for Astra Rafael Comsys. It highlights growing domestic defence partnerships in advanced communication systems. It is expected to strengthen the companyβs presence in aerospace and defence electronics, especially in avionics integration and mission-critical communication solutions.
At 3:30 PM, shares of Astra Microwave ended 1.67% lower at Rs 988 on NSE.
