Shares of Websol Energy System Ltd traded 2% higher on 12 January after the Andhra Pradesh government’s official clearance of its greenfield 4 GW solar cell and 4 GW solar module project.

In its regulatory filing, the company said “the Government of Andhra Pradesh, through its Industries & Commerce Department, has issued a Government Order approving the company’s proposed greenfield 4 GW solar cell and solar module project.”

The manufacturing facility is located in MPSEZ Naidupeta, Tirupati district, Andhra Pradesh. This approval follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (APEDB) on 15 November 2025.

The Andhra Pradesh government has approved an incentive package that includes land allotment, fixed capital investment subsidy, power tariff reimbursement, electricity duty exemption, subsidy on industrial water rates, and exemption from stamp duty and other registration requirements.

As part of the manufacturing facility, the business plans to build a 100 MW captive solar power plant.

The captive power plant will provide the manufacturing facilities with reliable access to renewable energy while also reducing operational costs.

In December, the company signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Linton, a global leader in solar ingot and wafer equipment technologies.

Both companies have agreed to investigate the possibility of producing Photovoltaic (PV) ingots and wafers in India, with Websol planning to purchase PV ingot and wafer manufacturing equipment from Linton.

At 12:32 pm, the shares of Websol Energy System were trading 0.25% higher at Rs 83.64 on NSE.
