MobiKwik Shares Jump 8% After Third Profitable Quarter

Mobikwik share surges after the fintech company posted its third straight profitable quarter.

MobiKwik shares touched a day high of Rs 222.80 on Monday after the fintech company posted its third straight profitable quarter.

The numbers tell a clear story. Net profit came in at Rs 7.6 crore for the June quarter, compared to a loss of Rs 41 crore a year ago.

Revenue grew 4% year on year to Rs 281 crore, and EBITDA swung to a positive Rs 15.8 crore, a sharp turnaround from an EBITDA loss in the same period last year.

Much of that turnaround comes down to cost control. Lending related expenses fell sharply, down to around Rs 2 crore from Rs 30 crore, even as the underlying business kept expanding.

Payments remain the engine here. Gross merchandise value hit a record Rs 587 billion this quarter, up 50% from last year. That’s 14 straight quarters of record GMV growth, which is hard to ignore.

CEO Bipin Preet Singh framed profitability as something now baked into the business, not a one off.

He also pointed to the lending arm, where gross profit jumped 5.6 times year on year on the back of better credit quality and stronger recoveries.nA few other moves are worth flagging too.

Late last month, the board cleared a Rs 60.84 crore equity infusion into its digital services subsidiary MDSPL to support further scale up.

And back in May, MobiKwik picked up in principle RBI approval for a Payment Aggregator Physical license, a step meant to significantly grow its offline merchant footprint by FY28.

By 12:24 pm, the stock was at Rs 215.83 on the NSE, up 5.18% on the day. It remains down more than 6% year to date.
