EV charging technology startup RoadGrid has secured Rs 13 crore in financial assistance from the Technology Development Board (TDB) under the Department of Science and Technology.
The funding will support the company’s Rs 27.5 crore project to establish a manufacturing and assembly facility for its patented Universal EV Charger, strengthening India’s domestic EV charging ecosystem.
The new facility will have an annual production capacity of 2,000 EV chargers, with commercial manufacturing expected to begin by March 2027. The project will produce key components such as power electronics, thermal management systems, communication modules and control hardware using largely locally manufactured parts.
RoadGrid was founded in 2020 and provides EV charging hardware, software, and energy management solutions. Its Universal EV Charger is designed to support electric two-wheelers, three-wheelers, passenger vehicles and commercial EVs through a single platform, making charging infrastructure more versatile and easier to deploy.
The company expects the manufacturing facility to create more than 100 jobs and generate around Rs 100 crore in annual revenue once production reaches an initial level of 1,000 chargers.
The company employs more than 40 people, has deployed over 100 EV chargers, and currently manages more than 200 charging points across India. It also counts VinFast, HPCL and IOCL among its enterprise partners.
The latest funding comes after RoadGrid raised Rs 12 crore in a pre-Series A round earlier this year to expand its charging infrastructure and product development. Together, the government support and private funding are expected to help the startup scale manufacturing and accelerate the rollout of indigenous EV charging technology across the country.
