Overnight Major Global Events Driving Sentiment
- US-Iran War: A proposed agreement between Iran and Oman to help ease tensions between the United States and Iran would reportedly give Tehran authority over vessels entering the Gulf through the Strait of Hormuz. If implemented, the arrangement would represent one of the most significant concessions made to Iran so far. The United States has not yet responded to the proposal. While President Donald Trump has suggested that an agreement to reopen the strategically important waterway could be reached soon, US officials have repeatedly stated that Washington would not accept Iran controlling access to the Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for global energy shipments.
