Hero MotoCorp to Triple EV Production Capacity to 45,000 Units a Month

Hero MotoCorp Ltd
Hero MotoCorp plans to increase its monthly EV production capacity to 45,000 units by the end of FY27.

Hero MotoCorp on Friday, August 7, announced plans to significantly increase its electric vehicle production capacity.

Hero MotoCorp plans to increase its monthly EV production capacity to 45,000 units by the end of FY27. This would represent a threefold increase from the capacity available at the end of FY26, highlighting the company’s growing focus on the electric two-wheeler market.

The company has been expanding its Vida electric scooter business as demand for electric two-wheelers grows in India. Hero is also preparing to introduce more products, including an affordable Vida model, as it looks to reach a wider group of customers.

The capacity expansion comes at an important time for India’s EV market. Electric two-wheeler sales have been gaining momentum, while competition among major manufacturers has intensified. Hero’s larger production capacity could allow the company to respond more quickly to rising demand and improve the availability of its electric scooters.

The EV push is also part of Hero MotoCorp’s broader strategy to strengthen its presence across different parts of the two-wheeler market. The company continues to focus on motorcycles while building its electric vehicle portfolio through Vida.

The announcement follows a strong first quarter for Hero MotoCorp. The company reported a 29% year-on-year rise in standalone profit to Rs 1,454 crore, while revenue increased 36%, supported by higher sales and a better product mix.
