Andhra Pradesh Approves Rs 2.08 Lakh Crore Investment Push

Andhra Pradesh cleared 25 projects worth ₹2.08 lakh crore in green energy and data centers

Andhra Pradesh cleared 25 projects worth ₹2.08 lakh crore in green energy and data centers, aiming to create 21,600+ jobs.

The state’s Investment Promotion Board signed off on the proposals at its 20th meeting on 12 August, chaired by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

The total value works out to Rs 2,08,406 crore across 25 separate projects. Officials expect these projects to generate direct employment for around 21,627 people once they become operational.

Most of the investment is going into data centres and green energy. The biggest single project on the list is a Rs 85,200 crore data centre proposed by ReNew AP Green Data Centre in Anakapalli district.

This alone makes it the largest of the 25 approved proposals. Two other projects worth noting are a Rs 7,800 crore green energy plant from Agastya Green Energy in Kurnool, and a Rs 1,600 crore project from Akshat Green Tech in Visakhapatnam.

Water supply has become a key discussion point around the data centre plans. Naidu said the facilities coming up in North Andhra will need roughly 3.5 TMC of water, and he wants officials to explain this clearly to the public.

He also pushed back on claims that these projects are polluting industries, calling some of it misinformation, and asked departments to counter it with facts.

To meet the demand, the government plans to supply Visakhapatnam’s industries through gravity flow from the Polavaram Left Canal.

Beyond data centres, the state is also looking to attract investment in green ammonia, lithium batteries and robotics.

Officials have been asked to work out what policy support and infrastructure these newer sectors will require. There’s a defence and aerospace angle too.

Naidu directed officials to help set up defence projects near Puttaparthi and aerospace units near Hindupur, with support on land and approvals.

Separately, Moolapeta Port has a firm deadline of December 2026 for completion.

On infrastructure, Naidu wants the remaining 37 MSME parks finished by September this year, with a longer-term goal of setting up an industrial park in every one of Andhra Pradesh’s 175 assembly constituencies.

He’s also directed that industrial incentives start flowing through escrow accounts from December, though he was clear that the state needs to stay realistic about how much support it can actually afford.

Whether any of this turns into real jobs and running factories is another matter. Power, water, land and approvals all have to come together on time, and that’s usually where announcements like this slow down.
