Hinduja Group signs Rs 2,500 crore MoU with Tamil Nadu covering renewable power, electric buses, auto manufacturing, finance and EV charging.

Amit Saharia, the group’s President of Strategy, signed the agreement with Deepak Jacob of Tamil Nadu’s Guidance Industries department.

Chief Minister Thiru C. Joseph Vijay attended, along with Ashok Hinduja and Dheeraj Hinduja, who chairs Ashok Leyland. Most of the green money goes to Hinduja Renewables Energy.

The company plans over 200 MW of solar, wind and battery storage capacity, and is scouting land in Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Virudhunagar, Madurai and Coimbatore.

These districts already have decent industrial infrastructure and strong renewable potential. Electric mobility gets its own share of the pie.

OHM Global Mobility will roll out electric buses for public transport and widen its footprint across the state’s mobility business.

“Our commitment is a statement of our confidence in Tamil Nadu,” said Ashok Hinduja, Chairman of Hinduja Group of Companies (India).

He credited the state’s industrial base and skilled workforce for why the group keeps returning here. This is not the group’s first big bet on Tamil Nadu.

Hinduja Group UK signed a Rs 7,500 crore MoU with the state back in September 2025, covering battery manufacturing and EV infrastructure.

Ashok Leyland followed in March 2026, breaking ground on a Rs 500 crore battery pack plant near Chennai.

Hinduja already runs a wide network of businesses in the state, including Ashok Leyland, Gulf Oil India, Switch Mobility, Hinduja Leyland Finance and Hinduja Housing Finance.

The new pledge builds directly on that base, and points to Tamil Nadu becoming a bigger piece of the group’s clean energy and mobility plans over the next few years.
