Gland Pharma hit a fresh 52-week high of Rs 3,039.80 on Friday after the company named Deepak Sapra as its new Chief Executive Officer.
Sapra currently heads the API and Services business at Dr Reddy’s Laboratories. He steps into the Gland Pharma CEO role on 16 November 2026.
He isn’t new to the pharma world. Sapra brings over 23 years of experience and at Dr Reddy’s, he oversees business growth across the US, Europe, Japan, Brazil, China, Mexico and the Middle East. He also sits on the board of Aurigene Pharma Services.
The top job had been vacant since Shyamakant Giri stepped down on 30 April 2026. That’s a fairly long gap, so the appointment closes a chapter investors had been watching.
Gland Pharma also posted its Q1 FY27 numbers earlier this week, and those results have added to the optimism. Net profit jumped 47.1% year-on-year to Rs 317 crore, up from Rs 215 crore.
Revenue climbed 19.6% to Rs 1,800.2 crore. EBITDA rose 33.1% to Rs 489.2 crore, and margins expanded to 27.2% from 24.4% a year earlier. The stock has had a good run lately.
It’s up over 73% so far this year and more than 50% over the past twelve months. As of 11:43 am on 14 August, shares were trading at Rs 2,968.60 on the NSE, up a modest 0.03% for the day after pulling back from the morning’s high.
