Highway Infrastructure shares soar 5% on 18 August after the company announced securing a contract worth around Rs 80 crore from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for toll collection operations in Tamil Nadu.

Under the contract, Highway Infrastructure will be responsible for toll collection and related operations at a toll plaza in Tamil Nadu. The company will execute the assignment under the terms and conditions specified by NHAI, with revenue to be recognised as the services are delivered.

The latest order adds to Highway Infrastructure’s portfolio of highway-related services. The company operates across areas including toll collection, operation and maintenance, infrastructure development and highway services, giving it exposure to India’s expanding road infrastructure ecosystem.

NHAI’s continued outsourcing of toll collection and highway operations creates opportunities for specialised infrastructure companies. As India’s national highway network expands, demand for professional toll management and technology-enabled collection systems is also increasing.

For Highway Infrastructure, the Rs 80 crore contract provides greater order-book visibility and a steady stream of operational revenue. The company will also be able to strengthen its relationship with NHAI through the execution of the project.
