Cupid Breweries and Distilleries has signed a non-binding MoU for technology and business collaboration, finalised in Germany.
Company officials wrapped up the discussions during business meetings held in Germany, and the agreement itself covers manufacturing processes, product quality, and operational scalability.
Being non-binding, it doesn’t commit either side to specific terms just yet. Instead, it lays the groundwork for a working relationship the company can build on as it moves closer to starting commercial operations.
Cupid disclosed the development to stock exchanges on August 21 under Regulation 30 of SEBI’s listing rules, and said the collaboration will be carried out in line with applicable food safety and excise laws. This trip to Germany wasn’t a standalone event either.
It traces back to a board meeting held on July 9, where directors approved the company’s Q1 FY27 financial results along with fund-raising plans, a technology visit to Germany, and an update on the acquisition of a unit in Gopalpur.
Seen together, the MoU looks like the direct outcome of that board-approved trip rather than a one-off development. Some background helps make sense of where this fits.
Cupid Breweries and Distilleries, earlier known as Cupid Trades and Finance, was incorporated back in 1985 and is now working to establish itself in the alcobev space.
The company has been acquiring land to build its own manufacturing units, and in the meantime, it generates revenue by trading raw materials, intermediates, and other consumables used in the alcobev industry.
It also runs subsidiaries in the UAE and Uzbekistan as part of its plan to expand beyond India.
For now, Cupid has said only that it will provide further updates on the German collaboration as required under regulatory norms, so the specifics of the partner and the scope of work should become clearer in the coming weeks.
