The GIFT Nifty futures, which is an early indicator of the Nifty50 index stocks, was trading lower by 95 points at 24,333, indicating that the domestic benchmark indices are likely to make a negative start on Thursday.
Earlier on Wednesday, 26 August, the domestic benchmark indices S&P BSE Sensex slumped by 183 points or 0.24%, and settled at 77,472 while the Nifty50 traded 0.52% lower or 127 points, closing at 24,207.

Fino Payments Bank: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved a further three-month extension of Ketan Merchant’s tenure as Interim CEO of Fino Payments Bank. The extension will take effect from August 27, 2026, or until the regular MD & CEO takes charge, whichever comes earlier.
Bharat Electronics: BEL has secured additional orders worth Rs 730 crore since August 10. The orders cover communication equipment, radar, avionics, tank sub-systems, electro-optics, cybersecurity, perimeter security, medical electronics, EVMs, jammers, batteries, spares and services.
Max Healthcare: Alps Hospital, a subsidiary of Max Healthcare Institute, has received a show-cause-cum-demand notice from the Directorate General of Goods & Services Tax Intelligence (DGGI), Mumbai, alleging a GST demand of Rs 165.7 crore, including a penalty of Rs 110.47 crore.
IRB Infrastructure Developers: The company’s Board has approved an investment of up to Rs 351 crore in IRB InvIT Fund through a proposed preferential issue. The company plans to acquire up to 5.4 crore additional units at Rs 65 per unit. IRB InvIT Fund will use the proceeds to acquire two project SPVs from IRB Infrastructure Trust, a privately placed and listed infrastructure investment trust.
