LTM, formerly known as LTIMindtree, has inaugurated a new Global Delivery and AI Competency Centre in Kolkata, as the IT services company expands its delivery capabilities and strengthens its focus on artificial intelligence.
The facility is expected to support global clients, create employment opportunities and develop AI skills among professionals in West Bengal and neighbouring states.
The centre was inaugurated in the presence of Larsen & Toubro Chairman and Managing Director S. N. Subrahmanyan and senior executives from L&T and LTM. The facility is part of LTM’s broader expansion in India and will serve as a hub for technology innovation, collaboration and global service delivery.
LTM said Kolkata’s academic institutions, talent pool and growing digital infrastructure were key factors behind its decision to establish the centre in the city. The company expects the facility to help it access skilled professionals while creating opportunities for technology and AI-focused employment in the region.
The new centre will focus strongly on artificial intelligence and next-generation technology solutions. LTM CEO and Managing Director Venu Lambu said the facility would help the company use local talent to develop future-ready skills and deliver AI-led solutions to global customers.
The investment comes as LTM is rapidly increasing its focus on AI. In June, the company launched its AI 1000 initiative, aimed at developing more than 1,000 AI-certified engineers, including forward deployed engineers who combine technical expertise with business and industry knowledge.
LTM has also reported strong growth in its AI business. In the June 2026 quarter, the company’s pure AI revenue reached a $150 million quarterly run rate, accounting for around 12% of its revenue. The company has said it wants to expand this business across areas including business AI, creative AI and industry-specific AI solutions.
The Kolkata facility is therefore part of a wider strategy to build an AI-skilled workforce and expand the company’s ability to deliver technology services from India to international customers. LTM plans to continue investing in regional delivery centres, digital infrastructure and employee-focused initiatives as demand for AI services increases.
The development also highlights Kolkata’s growing role in India’s technology and AI ecosystem. The city has attracted investments from other major technology companies as businesses look beyond traditional technology hubs such as Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai for skilled talent. For example, TCS and Google Cloud opened a Gemini Experience Centre in Kolkata in July to support enterprise adoption of agentic AI.
For LTM, the centre could help address the growing demand for specialised AI talent while giving the company another location from which to serve international customers. The focus on local hiring and skill development could also help expand its talent pipeline as AI changes the nature of IT services.
Overall, the Kolkata centre marks another step in LTM’s shift towards AI-led technology services. With the company’s AI revenue already forming a meaningful part of its business, the new facility could strengthen its delivery capacity and talent base as enterprise spending on artificial intelligence continues to increase.
