HCLTech partners with Wacker Chemie to set up a Pune Global Capability Center focused on engineering and digital work.

The idea behind the GCC is fairly straightforward. Wacker wants a delivery base that’s flexible and resilient enough to support its technology needs worldwide, and HCLTech is stepping in to help build and run it.

The center will be developed in phases, with a strong focus on staying aligned to Wacker’s actual business needs rather than following a fixed template.

Fabian Seibold, who heads the Wacker Excellence Hub in Pune, said the new center marks an important step in strengthening the company’s global delivery and digital execution capabilities.

He credited HCLTech’s track record of scaling similar centers as a reason the partnership should support better agility and governance over time.

From HCLTech’s side, Dr Frank Fehler, who leads the company’s Germany operations, called this a milestone in Wacker’s broader digital transformation journey.

Kiran Cherukuri, who heads HCLTech’s global GCC practice, added that the center will draw on the company’s expertise in DevSecOps and automation to build a strong team, tighten governance, and speed up digital modernisation for Wacker.

Wacker itself is a sizeable global player. It runs 27 production sites and 22 technical competence centers worldwide, employs more than 16,000 people, and reported annual sales of around 5.5 billion euros in fiscal 2025.

Its business spans silicones, polymers, biosolutions and polysilicon production. HCLTech, for its part, employs over 223,000 people across 60 countries and posted consolidated revenue of $14.8 billion for the 12 months ending June 2026.

The company works across sectors ranging from financial services and manufacturing to life sciences, semiconductors and telecom.

This tie up adds to a growing list of global companies setting up capability centers in India to tap into local engineering and digital talent.
