United Breweries shares rose 1.1% to hit an intraday high of Rs 1,322.90 on Tuesday after the company announced the commissioning of a new Rs 110 crore canning line at its Ellora Brewery in Maharashtra.
The new canning line at United Breweries’ Ellora Brewery in the Waluj MIDC area of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar will be the facility’s first such line. It can produce up to 40,000 cans per hour, making it one of the fastest canning lines across the company’s manufacturing network.
The company expects the line to become operational in September 2026, subject to statutory approvals.
The investment will add to the brewery’s existing bottling infrastructure and allow United Breweries to adjust its packaging mix more efficiently based on consumer demand.
The Ellora Brewery currently has a packaging capacity of up to 1.5 million cases per month. The new canning line is expected to improve the utilisation of existing infrastructure and boost productivity.
The initial production from the new line will include popular brands such as Kingfisher Strong, Kingfisher Premium, Bullet Strong and London Pilsner. The move comes as canned beer gains popularity among consumers and the company focuses on premiumisation in the Indian beer market. Maharashtra is considered an important market for United Breweries, giving the expansion strategic importance.
The Ellora investment follows United Breweries’ Rs 90 crore investment in a new canning line at its Nizam Brewery in Telangana, which was commissioned in July 2026. The consecutive investments highlight the company’s focus on expanding packaging capacity and strengthening its regional supply network.
Overall, the Rs 110 crore investment is a positive development for United Breweries, as it strengthens manufacturing capacity and gives the company greater flexibility to benefit from changing consumer preferences and premiumisation trends.
At 1:05 pm, the shares of United Breweries were trading 0.37% higher at Rs 1,313.40 on NSE.
