RRP Defense partnered exclusively with Israel’s ESC BAZ to bring an AI-powered surveillance system to India’s defence market.

The deal, announced on September 1, gives RRP Defense exclusive rights across India to deploy ESC BAZ’s Diamond Unique Observation System, an electro-optical and infrared camera platform built for round-the-clock monitoring.

What sets Diamond apart is its ability to capture daylight-quality images even in complete darkness.

It uses AI to detect and flag movement automatically, covers an 80 degree field of view, and produces images at a resolution of 4240 by 2832 pixels.

The system is meant for fixed spots like towers and masts as well as tactical, moveable setups.

Typical use cases include guarding borders, defence installations and other critical infrastructure, where continuous surveillance matters more than occasional monitoring. RRP Defense is eyeing a sizeable opportunity here.

The global market for this kind of military surveillance technology was valued at around $11.1 billion in 2025, and India’s share of that is estimated at roughly $580 million.

The company expects Diamond to account for close to 30% of revenue from this new business line once it scales up.

Rather than simply importing and distributing the technology, RRP Defense plans to manufacture it locally, adapt it for Indian requirements, and eventually export it to other countries.

Managing Director Rajendra Kamalantik Chodankar said the goal is to build a strong footing in India first, then expand the offering internationally. This isn’t RRP Defense’s first defence tech tie-up this year.

Back in March, the company signed an MoU with Bharat Electronics Limited to jointly work on semiconductor and unmanned aerial vehicle technologies, another step in its push to build indigenous defence manufacturing capabilities.

Together, these moves point to a company trying to widen its footprint across multiple high-tech defence segments, from surveillance systems to semiconductors and drones, while leaning on both global technology partners and domestic collaborations to get there.
