Max Healthcare Shares in Focus as Saket Hospital Adds 400-Bed Tower

Max Healthcare Ltd
The expansion takes the hospital's total capacity to around 1,200 beds, strengthening the company's presence.

Shares of Max Healthcare were trading in the red on 3 September despite the company inaugurating a new 400-bed tower at its Max Smart Super Speciality Hospital in Saket, Delhi.

The expansion takes the hospital’s total capacity to around 1,200 beds, strengthening the company’s presence in the Delhi-NCR healthcare market. The new tower was inaugurated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on September 3.

The facility is expected to expand access to advanced tertiary and quaternary healthcare services and will offer treatment across more than 22 specialities. The expansion also includes advanced medical technology, including robotic-assisted surgical systems such as the Da Vinci Xi and Mako platforms.

The Saket facility is an important asset for Max Healthcare, and the additional beds give the company more room to cater to the rising demand for specialised treatment in the National Capital Region.

The company operates a large network of hospitals, with more than 6,100 beds across 21 healthcare facilities. Around 85% of its bed capacity is located in metro and Tier 1 cities, according to the company’s investor information.

The expansion is also part of Max Healthcare’s broader capacity addition strategy. The company has been investing in brownfield expansions and new hospitals across key markets.

Its recent projects include a 160-bed tower at Mohali and a 268-bed tower at Nanavati-Max, while it is also developing a roughly 450-bed hospital in Pune and has acquired control of Kalinga Hospital in Bhubaneswar.

On September 3, Max Healthcare also approved an investment of around β‚Ή87.87 crore in Kalinga Hospital through a rights issue. The funds are expected to support capital expenditure, modernisation and operational improvements at the subsidiary.

At 2:36 pm, the shares of Max Healthcare were trading 0.11% lower at Rs 992.90 on NSE.
