Mazagon Dock touched a day high of Rs 2,505.30 after bagging a Rs 117.99 crore AI security order from Maharashtra’s power utility.
The contract covers what the company calls an AI-based Comprehensive Infrasecure Project, essentially the supply, installation and commissioning of AI-driven security systems across five substations in the state.
This is a domestic contract, and the company has confirmed it does not fall under related party transactions, nor does it involve any interest from the promoter group.
The order value includes GST at 18% along with other applicable duties. Mazagon Dock expects to complete the work over a 24-month execution window, which means revenue from this contract will get recognised gradually rather than all at once.
Mazagon Dock is one of India’s oldest and most established shipyards, tracing its roots back to 1774.
As a Navratna defence public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Defence, the company has built more than 800 vessels since 1960, including warships, submarines and a wide range of commercial and offshore vessels.
It remains majority owned by the Government of India. On the financial front, the company’s June quarter results showed consolidated net profit rising over 21% year on year to βΉ549.41 crore, while net sales grew around 12% to βΉ2,942.7 crore compared to the same period last year.
Over the past month, the stock has gained close to 4.5%, though it remains down over the last one year.
The order from MSETCL adds a fresh, if modest, addition to the company’s order pipeline, which had seen no new disclosed wins in the preceding three quarters.
As of 14:56 pm on Monday, the stock was trading at βΉ2,452.00 on the NSE, down 0.93% for the day.
